I am a triathlon addict.
Great Job. It does not take long at all. I was hooked in just as fast.
Great job on you win in your AG. That really makes it hard to not get addicted.
Well done!

Congratulations rebekahliz and welcome to the awesome world of Triathlon addiction. I was hooked just as fast as you in 2003 and ever since, I have had a blast racing, meeting fabulous people and learning more and more about myself and what I am capable of doing.
I started in the 50-54 age group and, like you, started getting "hardware" (1st. place) the very first Sprint I did. Last year I moved to the 55-59 age group just as I was going to do my first Iron Man Triathlon, in Madison, Wisconsin and, to seal my fate as a "Triathlon addict" I came in 3rd. Place.
"Blown away" is putting it mildly when my name was called at the awards dinner and I went up to the stage to get my award. Not bad for a first Iron Man, eh?
I am happy that you joined the ranks and I want to wish for you many, many years of happy training and racing. Stay healthy, listen to your body, if in doubt, ask the questions here. This comunity is awesome and everyone will encourage you and help you in any way we can.
Congratulations again!!!!!!!!!

Wow! Congratulations on those amazing victories and thank you so much for your very thoughtful and inspirational message. I was in Madison all summer and absolutely loved training there. It was so exciting seeing all the local triathletes preparing for Ironman. Are you still located in Indiana? I'm looking forward to the Indianapolis Sprint tomorrow.

Thank you for your kind words. Good luck today at that Sprint in Indianapolis.
I live in Crown Point, about a 3 1/2 -4 hour drive from Indianapolis.
This year I am going to Madison to volunteer for the 2007 Iron Man and to register for the 2008 race. The city of Madison is beautiful, its residents are awesome and every year, they put on an amazing welcome mat for all who are participating in the race.
Volunteering is a great way to get close to the acction and be insipired by all the athletes who, inspite of the sometimes inclement weather, acomplish something so amazing. You will see very ordinary people doing something trully extraordinary.
If you think you could volunteer this year, go to:
sportsinwisconsin.com/volunteer
They still need some people for the bike and run aid stations and for the Special Needs areas.
Well, again, good luck on your race today and take care.
Maria.

Nice! I might have to quote you on that one!

Hello everyone. Now that my very first triathlon season is winding down, I think it is time to fess up: I am, without doubt, addicted to the sport. Wow, that didn't take long. This has been one of the best summers I can remember. It's been great to train, chat, and race with such outstanding athletes, and I really enjoy reading this forum. The nail in my coffin, however, came yesterday when I managed to place in a very small race in Illinois--first in my age group and 4th woman overall! Yee haw! Nothing like a stroke of the ego to officially push one over the edge into obsession. You folks warned me this would happen ;). The good news is my loved ones haven't yet staged an intervention. In fact, they might be enabling my addiction by suggesting I ask Santy Clause for a new bike. Hmm.
Hope everyone else had a wonderful weekend!
