Hi there. Best of luck heading towards your first tri. Be sure you're having fun with everything!
Welcome to the new lifestyle! For pools, perhaps check your local high school, or a college if there is one in the area.

This is the same advice as I keep telling myself...baby steps lol. If you look at a big picture too close, it will overwelm you. Like RV already stated, your already improving on your runs.
Wrinkle the pavement!
I need to find a place to swim also since I'm going to be changing where I work. I've been lucky so far to swim during my lunch break that is at the college recreation center 3 miles away.
Getting things setup is nerve racking, but worthwhile.
Welcome, I was in the same boat you were in a year ago. The amount of improvement in my level of fitness has been astonishing. Keep at it and you will amaze yourself.
Hey Socket!
Welcome to trifuel! Another trifuler in Jersey.
I am not too far away, in Madison(near Morristown)
I work down in Woodbridge.
If you are looking for pools I would check the local YMCA. I think there is one near you.

Thanks for the warm welcome
It is pretty amazing how much I've improved (so that whole "hard work and determination" thing actually works; go figure :p ).
beads: I love the error message from the link -
" Hmm... that wasn't supposed to happen!" :) I'll definitely check it out though, and try kyillee's suggestion since Montclair University is pretty close to where I work in Clifton.
Okay, Since the link wouldn't work

Hello all, figured I've been lurking around here for long enough I might as well post :)
I've never really been good at any active sport (lettered in bowling in HS) and have really only started trying to be healthy. The last time I tried (over 2 years ago) I couldn't finish a 5k without crawling my way to the finish. I've been working out for the last 8 months because I needed to do something and for some odd reason doing triathlons seems like a good idea.
I just started running again and I'm doing better than I have before: 2 5Ks down this summer at 29:56 and 27:00, 2 10Ks coming up (Babylon this Sunday and Brielle 2 weeks after), and the Urbanathlon in NYC at the end of Sept. I figure that's a good way to get started before jumping headlong into tris next year.
Just bought my first bike since 6th grade so I'm a bit nervous about that, and I'm trying to find someplace to start swimming (darn gym doesn't have one). I'm a bit nervous about it all, but I'm determined to do this.
