hit by a car
Man that stinks, glad you're not hurt too bad.
Definitely agree with you about cars. I always try to keep out an eye for any car that passes by. One thing that I've begun to do to stay safer on the road is to ride during hours when there are less cars out.
Glad youre alright mate. We have to watch them like hawks, they sure dont watch for us.

Always,always,always...assume they don't see you, that they will do somthing erratic or unexpected...when in doubt back off and let them move first...yell,whistle,scream anything to make sure they know you are there...nevr ever "zone out," wear ear phones or anything else that will distract you...Glad you are ok,but you are luckier than you realize. A local rider died two years ago in this same situation...he ended up under the vehicle.

been there, done that. Sucks and is scary. Take your mind off it. the more you play it over the scarier it gets. Glad for you it wasn't worse. Get well and learn from it, but forget it all the same. You'll be up and riding again soon. Speedy recovery. Hope you got something from it!

Good rule of thumb is if you see someone do something stupid--they're most likely going to repeat themselves in 3...2...1...
Glad you're relatively ok. I got nailed years back....and came real close a few times this year. It's not a question of if, but when. Hell, biking is so dangerous that I feel 10x safer on my motorcycle. At least on a motorbike you get your own lane (and can outpower any car).
Greatness is only achieved by those who perpetually raise the expectations of themselves to the point where it ruins their life.
Definitely heads up on cars in the bike lane. Good advice not to 'zone out'. A cyclist died in Saratoga, CA a while back from essentially zoning out, riding in his lane and hit a car parked in the bike lane. The driver was taking a call on his cell and had pulled over. The rider had hit the back of the car and died on scene.
STAY ALERT!
anton, i definitely realize how lucky i am. i got the best result of an awful situation. tall bike, small car, hit the hood and flew over it. even managed to not break any bones. unfortunately my i can't say the same for my bike. broke the top tube clean in half, and theres not a single component without damage. I should add that my helmet saved my life. looking at the damage it took, if i hadn't been wearing it my brains would've been splattered on the road.
Happy for you...sorry about the bike...Get a new helmet. Many people don't replace a helmet after a a bad crash..especially if it looks fine..but if you took a good wack the foam inside the brain bucket could be damaged and you won't know...
Get back riding as soon as you can...heal quick!

My left shoulder is pretty screwed up but since after most accidents everything tightens up anyways, I just said screw it and still made my way to the Y to get the laps in lol. Going to be in Iowa this weekend so I gotta get my hours in for the week.

Glad you 2 are ok. It could have been worse in both cases.

so i got hit by a car for the first time yesterday. i got real lucky and didn't get too seriously injured. knee is rather bad off but nothing debilitating. i'm out for the season but just thought i'd go ahead and remind everyone to watch out when you ride. i got hit as a driver who had just pulled off the road ahead of me whipped back out after stopping to try to pull a u-turn. you just can't tell what people are doing.
