IM Louisville (aka IM KY) Rollcall
I'm there or will be on Friday 24th A.M. Staying at the Galt House. Definitely should get together for a while. I'll be sporting myred and black Trifuel schwag on race day. Can't hardly wait!!
-Johnie
I'll be there. Staying at the Galt house which, I've since learned, is kind of a craptastic (I should have checked w/Yelp before I booked the room), but on the 26th I'll be at the 21cMuseum hotel. Rooftop Suite, too....so I can jump off and kill myself if I DNF. ;)
I'm down to meet up. I'm not uber-social, so a swim would be cool.

While I won't be there, this event is only 50 miles away from where I grew up (Carrollton KY). When I build up to IM status, this is where I plan on doing my first. Good luck all.
BTW, the Gault House = one of the finest in da 'Ville!!

Good to hear about the Galt house. The reviews I read basically compared it to a giant motel six.
2134 Participants! Oh man....just thinking about the swim is makin me real nervous!

And your number Nobody? :p Gotta let our adoring Trifuel fans have an easy time tracking us!
I am "sorta" from Louisville (graduated Oldham County HS in 1990, which btw we will all ride past twice on the Lagrange loops).
I am #450 and will be up there at my parents house on Thursday evening.

Well you know, it has been a good 15 years since I was at the Galt House. I hope they haven't let it get run down...:(

Just checked Ironmanlive.com, and they don't list IMKY as one of the events that will have athlete tracking as of Monday A.M. I sure hope this isn't so.

Noooo that can't be! That would really stink!

OK, so I checked again to make sure, and they have IMKY listed in the live Webcast, but no athlete tracking. Hopefully it's not correct.

I hope to be there to watch! Will be driving down after my tri on Saturday morning in Indianapolis. Not sure where I am staying but good luck to all!!
1263!
I sent an email out to Ironman contact to see about athlete tracking....
Weather forecast is isolated Thunderstorms, 30% chance of precipitation. Gusty winds is a possibility. Up to 21mph is what's going on today. I'm planning on running a rear disc w/race tires that are treadless...I haven't done any riding in the rain on the tires I have (Michelin Race). Anyone have any good rain tire recommendations in case it does dump down on us?
I've run the disc during two rides where wind was nuts....wasn't too bad, but if the road was slick I imagine it would have been ugly.

If its gusty winds as predicted you might think twice about running a disc (and you might do that anyway as I don't really see the advantage on a lumpy course like this one). The biggest thing to remember about the rain is be careful on turns and watch out for the painted lines at intersections since they get slick in the rain.

GOOD LUCK everyone...and HAVE FUN out there!!! We want to see some smiling finisher pix :)

Thanks, Brett....good info. But it's too bad I didn't see the GPS course profile till after I shipped my bike off w/the disc on it. All the descriptions just said rolling, but it looks a little more challenging than that.

From what I've heard on the profile it really is rolling -- strong bikers (this was told to my ~5:05 IM bike boyfriend) might not need the small chainring at all. Others have said they think there are about 4 climbs that will need it. I wouldn't worry too much about that with the disc...
Any meeting plans? I will not be in 'til midday to early afternoon Friday.
-Johnie
I suck at committing to plans. I wonder how I ever committed to do 3 of these races so far in advance ;)
Right now our plan is to register Friday. Also to bike a loop of the run course (I think Friday as well) -- we'll be in matching *aww how cute* Planet X red jerseys for that.
I'll PM my cell number to people interested in meeting up.
Swim course change due to all the flooding upstream.
• On race morning, athletes will walk 3/4 mile from Waterfront Park to the swim start, located at the Brown Forman Amphitheater, just east of Tumbleweed Southwest Grill.
• Athletes will self-seed themselves at the start based on their projected swim time.
• A mass swim start will begin at 6:50 a.m. for nearly 40 professional athletes, and a time trial start will follow at 7 a.m. for age group athletes.
• To reduce athlete congestion during the swim, the time trial start will consist of athletes entering the water every few seconds. Athletes will be required to cross a timing mat before entering the water, to record their official start time. Overall finish times will reflect the time at which each athlete enters the water, vs. the 7 a.m. start time.
I'm kind of bummed that it's not a mass start....as much as it scared the crap out of me, it's still part of the challenge. The good thing, though, is with all the overflow and potential nasty microbes in the river we will be sucking down far less water with the time trial start.

If today is any indication of what is to come for me I may as well give up now.
Arrive at airport 11:15, plenty of time. Get to gate--1 hr. delay (1:45pm). 1:15pm--delay to 3pm. 2:35: Delay: 4:10. 3:50, board plane. 4:10, captain announces flight canceled.
So I spend 5 hours at the airport, come home and will miss a day in KY. Now I have to cram everything--checking in, getting bike, driving course, getting my gear bags packed, getting a swim in, etc. etc. etc. all in ONE day. That is....if I can get a flight out tomorrow.
And recommendations on how I should spend my day on Sat., please--bring it on.

Very frustrating --- but just relax.
That is the best thing that you can do for yourself.
And with traveling - keep yourself hydrated!
You'll get it all in - just one more obstacle to adapt to and overcome.

Thank god they changed the swim course. About 5 min to go about 100 yds against the current yesterday -- Mike made it about 200. Felt a bit better today. Of course, it is still about 85 degress, so it will be no wetsuits. And I'll be ahead of Mike! It's a time trial start first come first to go, athletes leaving each second -- so I'll be leading him for about 2 seconds ;). The 2000ish AGers will take around 30 min, so all the cutoffs are being set based on the last person hitting the water.
It's windy out there, but MUCH cooler than it has been.
Rode the run course... it should be a nice run. Hopefully will get to see Mike (it's an out and back done twice).
Oh, and Nobody has made it, and I ran into Brett yesterday :)

I'll be there, and Mike. Both of us racing.
We'll be staying at the Hyatt in the 4th St. Live area from the 23rd - 27th.
No race numbers are up yet... any thoughts on a Trifuel gathering while there? Perhaps at one of the morning swims?
Mike and I will be in a bright orange Inland Inferno tri tops, and I'll have on a trifuel hat or visor during the run.
