I'm looking for a way to calculate how many calories I'm burning in my biking and swimming workouts. I'm from a running background so I've got that covered. I need to drop a few pounds I gained while I was injured this winter and I'm not sure how to figure out what these workouts are contributing. I've found a few places online but most of them give calories burned per hour or 30 minutes. I can't imagine those are very accurate considering bike paces can vary greatly as can the length swam during 30 minutes. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The easiest way is to get a heart rate monitor. Not only will it help you stay in the right zone for your workout, it will calculate calories burned.

Here's a web address: http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/jumpsite/calculat.htm. You enter you weight and the minutes you spent exercising. Then it lists about 200 different activities, everything from water aerobics to chopping wood. For swimming, it has options such as vigorous lap training, treading water, or moderate recreational swimming. For cycling, it lists various average speeds and the calories burned at each speed interval. I think it's pretty good.

Thanks for the link... that's exactly what I was looking for. A heart rate monitor is on my list of things to get, but just investing in a bike has left my bank account bare for the next couple months.
