TT Helmet Question
You should be fine. Obviously the faster you go, the more it helps, but it's not like aero wheels where you can actually go slower with them if you're not going fast enough. Even then, it's only when comparing a $2k aero wheelset with a $2k non-aero wheelset since the non-aero one will be lighter. I think most people don't buy like that, though. It's more likely that they'll go from a general training wheel to something like a 404, which is both lighter AND more aero, so it'll be faster all the time. Sorry, this answer is probably way longer than you wanted, but 22 for a rolling HIM course is pretty solid and no one's going to talk bad about you for having it. I've seen guys average slower than that on a sprint who had one. Especially over something that long, you'll probably see a couple minutes difference.

Not fast enough.
Thanks, my biggest concern is that I turn into one of the people that I chuckle at when I pass them because they have the Cervelo P3 with trispokes and TT helmet and they are averaging something like 16 mph.
Yeah, man....if you're averaging 22 for 56 miles, not many people are going to be passing you.

Not fast enough.
I'll probably be out racing with one and averaging a lot slower :) My boyfriend has been convincing me it's ok, and not to care if other people chuckle. It will help me (although as gator said not as much at the slower speeds) and I have nothing to lose by it, so why not?
I wear spandex around town all the time and spend my free time talking about calories burned during rides... so I can't care too much what others think anyways!

At what speed to you need to average for an aero tt helmet to become beneficial. I average about 22 mph for a rolling HIM course. Would this be beneficial for me at all. I don't want to look that dorky if it is not benefit me.
