Ran the International Distance Classic Olympic distance race yesterday. Had a great time. They held a 5k the evening before and a duathlon in tandem with the tri. Would have liked to see more people at this first year event. I, for one, hope this series sticks around- theres a lack of Oly events throughout the year. Unacceptable in the Sunshine State.

So the race was good- swim in a lake. I think it was a little short. Including the long ass run to T1, I went 26:56. Eh?! I guess it's possible, but I was expecting closer to 30:00.

Bike course was changed in the week or so leading up to the race. Went from flat and fast straight out and back to some crazy looping thing with a few small hills, lots of turns, and crummy pavement in the later half of the bike. It was great!! I loved it. Except the crummy pavement. No drafting around me- but I was passing quite a few people. Thats always fun. Got overtaken by 2 dudes near the end, when I was holding back a little for the run.

The run from hell. Run was around a airplane runway. Wouldnt normally be bad, but this was a grass runway. With thick grass. They did cut it before the race, but it was still ankle deep. MAde for a miserable and slower run. I loved it! I love passing people in agony. Guys in agony cause they went too hard on a bike when they KNEW we would be running through this crap! I lost count of people I passed. One guy at the end put up a little fight, but a little increased turnover dropped him in the last 1000 meters.

Good times. Thanks to the staff for a great race. Some more shelter after the race wouldve been appreciate, though.

Swim- 26:56
T1- :28.67
Bike- 1:10:21 (21mph)
T2- :27.72
Run- 44:07 (7:06 mpm)
Total- 2:22.36

Good for 9th OA, 1st in AG!

Second week in a row with identical results. I'm loving it! Got lucky again with the fast guys from my AG not showing up. I feel I put in a solid effort, but I know there's dude out there who can smoke me. I guess they were all at Top Gun or something. But it's time for 3 weeks of solid training before a long month of racing of September. Then my season is over!

Edit- they reposted the results with some corrections, which I have made above.

Solid race, man! I never would've made it on the run...I hate anything that isn't asphalt! Way to stick it to 'em on the runway.

Thanks, guys! Some time updates due to a reposting of the results. I was actually 9th OA in the tri. Somehow the overall sheet includes the Duathletes...

Yeah, that hot ass chick is Kristen.....you better be careful there, man! :D She had a killer swim, as usual. I know you said the run was tough, but I just looked at the results, and DAMN you killed it! Rock on!

Hot Damn! I know a celebrity :D CONGRATS on a great finish! I bet it was hotter than hell out there in the armpit of Florida...good on ya. Glad it didn't rain on race day...that's why the grass was knee-high....but you were prepared for that running at Flatwoods. Nice work-keep it up!!!
