Finished my second tri today. Everthing went pretty smooth. The only thing is that I wish I finished my swim a little bit stronger. As soon as the horn went off, I was gone. Passing a lot of people here and there, but as soon as I got to the half way point I tired out and lost my rhythm. So I was back stroking it. Overall, I was happy with my transitions, bike, and run. Distance was 500m/14.2mile/3miles.

Congrats on completing your second tri. I just finished my 5th and the learning process continues. While I am pleased with my results, there is always room for improvement. So, I try to focus on the things I need to improve all the while remembering that I do this for fun! Any more races planned for this year?

Congrats again.

Glad you made it on the two hours of sleep!

I find a beer or two the night before takes the edge off and makes sleeping easier. Just making sure you are properly hydrated!

For your next swim- take it deliberately easy the first half of the swim. It sounds like your adrenaline levels got the best of you, and when it calmed down, you had to deal with it.

Keep racing- its gets more natural, and as a result, more fun.

Good job.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

I was extremely happy w/ my bike and run. So I obviously need to work on my swim. I'm looking forward to doing another one.

Good job bry!...Sounds, though, you need to work on slowing down at the beginning of your swim...getting to the half way point of the swim and being blasted means that not only do you have less energy for what's left of the swim, but also the bike and run...experience is the great teacher...again ,kudos...and keep up the good work!

Ya, that is pretty common - going out way too hard on the swim. All that adrenaline and excitement. It will become easier to manage.
Nice race.

I'm a terrible swimmer but a very strong biker. My personal rule is to waste 0 energy on the swim and then I just explode on the bike. I always have to force myself to slow down in the water but it rewards itself later in the race.

congrats on the second finish
