So I have had my S625x for a year now and decided to finally go buy the IrDA thing so that I could connect it to my computer. Bought the right one for it (ordered it from trisports.com and it said it worked for the S625x). Installed the driver and everything. Went to connect it with the software you get from the polar website (also comes with the CD you get when you buy the watch) and it would not connect. I tried all the steps it said and I couldn't get it to work. Anyone else have problems with it? Or know about the return policy with trisports.com? Or is there a customer service number for polar?

Trisports probably wont know much about the connection, unless you want to return it. I would call Polar and ask --there may be a newer driver for your OS, maybe the driver did not install correctly.... Did you reboot after installing? Maybe a "known issue" blah blah blah. Sorry, did software supportfor 9 years

I have one of those watches but have not taken advantage of the download capabilities.

My wife had the same problem when we first bought the s720i and apparently there were some know issues with some of the IrDA USB ones.

We contacted Polar international and I have to say what a great customer service they have. She wrote and email and the next day we received a phone call from them. After all the help from the tech support guy he said he was going to send a new IrDA piece and that we should send the damaged(not really damaged but with the known bug) one to them. Funny thing is they didn´t wait for the damaged one to arrive to ship the new one... it was a great customer support.

Thanks for that previous thread big 3, but I think I am going to have to get in contact with the polar support because I tried all those steps you had listed and never saw the IR icon thing in the system tray. I installed the drivers, then plugged in the hardware. Pressed the button so it said connect on my watch and left it on that screen. Check the preferences to make sure it was on USB port and even check my computer and it said that the IR was installed and working properly. Just never got the icon in mysystem tray. Even tried un-installing and re-installing. Didn't help.

Thanks for all the replies guys, but I found out the problem. It was user error!! I was trying to connect through the side of the watch, not the top where you are supposed to. I was out running this morning and realized that. Ooooooops!
