How much sleep do you usually get before a race?

I have a race tomorrow, but I have to drive an hour away. So I have to get up early. but the thing is, I'm totally wired right now. I'm afraid I won't get much sleep.

Your screwed man...but dont sweat it. I hardly ever sleep before a race due to the excitement. I lay there with my mind racing and going over and over the transitions etc.

Have ONE drink if you have to!! LOL j/k

Its fine... its 2 nights before that matters. My two fastest Olys have been on 45 min and 2 hours of sleep before 3 and 4 hour drives...

Catwood's 100% right. 2 days (and three) before are the important ones. I usually only sleep a couple hours before a race (but several hours afterwards!). It's the 3 and 4 hour drives that you need to worry about.....but it doesn't mean that they'll ruin your race.....just ask carolyn about how fast she went last week after driving 4 hours.

i rarely get more than 4 hours of sleep the night before a race, just too much anxiety and anticipation in my head...

So how'd it go?

I rarely get to bed by my goal time (9:30- 10om) the night before a race. Normally, it's at least 11:00. I do make sure I get to bed earily the couple nights leading up to it. Then take a solid nap afterwards.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

I ended up geting a little over two hours. I felt fine. I'm just getting up now from a 5 hour nap.

I was wondering how the race went, not the sleep.
