All month I've been having bad races, but this morning everything finally went smoothly and I had the first strong race since June. I wasn't even planning on doing this race, but I looked at the entry list a few days ago and figured I could use it as a pro qualifier and signed up at the last minute. It was a sprint on an island off the west coast of Florida. .25 mile swim (into the current!), 10.3 mile bike (very flat), 5k run (1 1/2 miles on sand).

Swim: 8:07 (3/667)
T1: 1:01 (1/667)
Bike: 24:40 @ 25.0 mph (4/667)
T2: 0:41 (1/667)
Run: 20:28 (14/667)

Finish: 54:56 (3/667)

I was doing the elite wave and put a 4 minute gap on 2nd place on the bike, so I just coasted the run (I still want to party in Tampa tonight!!). I ended up crossing the finish line first by 5 minutes, which was pretty exciting, but two guys in later waves ended up beating me by 1 and 2 minutes. They should've been in the elite wave, but I guess it doesn't matter too much. Even if I had run hard, I seriously doubt I would've been able to go two minutes faster. The only problem was that the guy who won was old as crap! Hell, he was 41!:D

My goal for the race was to get a pro qualifier, so I'm happy. 2 to go until the pro card!
