Kona Training Week 3
It's good to follow the updates on your training Brian, wish you the best for Hawaii. Just curious, what type of intensity are you doing at the moment? Just rebuilding after Arizona and doing aerobic threshold work or are you picking up the intensity with strength specific workouts?
All aerobic, all the time. I'll do some higher intensity interval work a bit later on in the cycle, but not too much.

Best luck in Kona...cool to keep hearing the updates.
I finally (after 8-9 months of training) feel like I'm putting in IM worthy totals the last few weeks. Last week was
Swim 6,900 yards (two swims)
Bike 210 miles.
Run 35 miles.
2hrs core strength/flexibility work.
Total 19.5 hrs.
I'd swim more but I can keep a 1:22/100 pace on two swims a week so with a family, pregnant wife and work the swim is the first workout I sacrifice! Better to spend time on the bike and run, IMO for me.

For sure, nobody ever finished a solid IM saying, "gee, I wish I spent more time in the pool!" It's all about the bike, brother!

Wow!
I I was doing that training the sad part would be that at the end my total training time would be more than 15hours for the same distances!!!! but again.......that´s why I´m only a part of the official "Dunn Cheering team"!!!!
Keep on the great training Bryan! You´ll rock Kona!
Hyperactive Trifueler!!!! (I refuse to let the status go :p)
Thanks, Tikal :)
Yeah, the bike has really been coming together. My overall speed average for that mileage was 21.4mph, so my pacing has been very good despite having to contend with high heat and humid afternoon's during the week.

Swim- 12,950 yards
Bike 161.5 miles
Run- 30.4 miles
Total Training Time- 15:00:00
Solid week, picked up swim and bike volume. Humidity here in AZ has been downright Hawaii like, which is good for acclimation, I just hope it hold through September. Bike is DEFINATELY back with a vengence! Even at the end of a long 75 mile ride I can push hard and get my hear rate up for the last 20min.
