NYC triathlon 2007
That was a rough day - but way to keep gutting it out. ;)
Nice job carrying on to the finish.

Gutting it out indeed
That was some freaky green, funky smellin' foul tastin' river water... way to tough it out. Next year, I'm bringin' Listerine.
Great meeting you
john
I don't need to get faster, I just need to get older!
uggg that water must have been nasty! At least you didn't save any for your gut to deal with later:o

After the run I had a Buritto in a Bowl from Chipoltle's.
It tasted awesome and I was able to actually keep it down.
My best advice.. Don't drink the Hudson!!
as a former NYC resident, i always wondered how clean the river was...now i know [shudder!]
as i was reading i was wondering how you kept your balance during the various convulsions/evacuations, especially on the bike...i think i'd have fallen...no one was drafting off you that day! :)
way to stick it out!
On the bike I gritted my teeth until I could coast a little on the downhill. Then I let it go
It was a bit scary. I was struggling to keep my eyes open when I was upchucking.
The water was supposedly "Bathing Quality'' but I guess not safe for ingesting!
Wow! And I thought peeing on the bike was a feat! Way to finish the race despite the chronic throwing up --sheer will and determination I would say. I lived in NYC and the Bronx for a couple of years and did crew on the Hudson. No way, no how would I step foot in it. You are brave! Congrats again on finishing.
Scott! You da man!...now THAT folks, is what endurance sports is all about...NOT packing it in when the excrement hits the air conditioning device.
Good on you lad!

Closer to "when the puke wits the pedals"
Way to stick it out and congrats on finishing. I'm a native New Yawka (Queens) and think about coming up for this race every year. All my fam is still there and I have some friends there who race. Anyway, the river swim has always been the reason I haven't done that race. I guess growing up there, I just can't imagine actually swimming in the Hudson. But what I really found truly amazing is that you actually found a parking spot :D

We did get into NYC about 4:15 am, and even then there were only a few choice spots.

It wasn't a fun day
