Crash
I'm very sorry to hear about your crash. I hope your recovery goes well.
It looks like you're signed up for IMoo. The withdrawal deadline is 7/31. Go here for details: http://www.nasports.com/withdrawal/index.php
Ouch, that sucks. Glad you're o.k. now though.
That's lame. So sorry that happened to you. That's a lot of fractures to deal with. I hope you heal fast and can at least stay busy swimming, maybe...

Kevin, I am very sorry that this happened to you. I wish you a good healing and strong recovery. Your prophetic sentence is rather dark, and since I have never crashed, and never want to, and hope I never will, it concerns me.
How many of you HAVEN'T CRASHED YET?

Sorry to hear the terrible news Kevin, recover well and focus on what you need to do to heal.

I don't need to get faster, I just need to get older!
sucks about the crash, and the goober that did not stop. it sounds like it could have been much worse, so luckily you are doing OK.
i have been lucky enough to not have a crash, yet. i attribute this to the fact that i really enjoy riding alone. riding is my alone time for the day where i can unwind and put my brain on hold. i am waiting for the day when a car gets too close and puts me off the road, or a dog runs in front of me and i have to endo over it.
Yikes Kevin! I love big bike tours like "The Rag" or Fany and such...but you really have to be careful! Lots of folks with so-so skills...Take care, heal and don't be a stranger. Let us know how it's going.

That sucks. Everyone crashes now and then, thankfully my few wrecks (not including off-road, I could fill a book with those) have not resulted in anything as serious as yours.
Heal well and heal fast.
Glad to hear you are ok... or as ok as you could be. I can't believe he didn't stop!!!
Crashes are tough. I've had 2 bad ones, both involved cars. One broadsided be and threw me off my bike and across the road. The other one got a little too close and sent me into a ditch where I was stopped by a drain pipe. Too many to mention on the mountain bike.
We're all pulling for you here. Get healed up so you can start kicking tail again!
The race is just the finale to all of your training. Enjoy the celebration.
What a crappy way to end your season.
Incredible that he didn't stop - No way that he couldn't have known - well what goes around comes around - it'll catch up to him at some point.
Glad that you are on the mend now.
I ride 99% of the time alone, so my crashes have been with cars - 2 so far...

Sorry to hear about your crash - hope you're on a speedy road to recovery. I haven't had any serious crashed either (yet), but my training buddy and another friend had a serious wipeout on Sunday right in front of me - another thirty seconds and I would have went down as well. One of my friends slipped on the wet pavement and went down, and the other, who was behind him couldn't stop or get around him, rode right into him and would up endo-ing over the top of him - he separated his shoulder and sprained his thumb - my other friend broke his collarbone, his scapula and has a stress fracture in his hip. I have to tell you, it was one of the scariest thing I had ever seen. Thank God there was a break in the traffic, because we all had to veer into the oncoming lane to avoid them.
Anyway, hope you're feeling better real soon.

that's quite a bang up to come from a bike...i can't believe the guy didn't stop or that no one chased him down afterwards
heal up quickly and get back out there!
How many of you HAVEN'T CRASHED YET?
hit by car on two different occasions, one even had a dramatic flight across the hood...luckily survived ok in both! bike had some issues but was fixable
I can't believe he didn't stop!
Glad you aren't worse off... and here's wishing for a speedy and full recovery!

thanks for the well wishes all! When I get a chance I am going to take a picture of what is left of my helmet. It will teach everyone to wear one, I guarantee it!

I'm sorry to hear about that. This is just another reason for me NOT to ride my bike in Iowa...
Hey man, I am really sorry about your accident.
Take good care of those bones, rest well...
My best wishes to you

Just thought everyone should know. I was riding with my team on RAGBRAI (which is a bike ride event across Iowa). We were cruising around mile 200 and a guy tried to pass me on the right side, there was a cross wind and he couldn't control himself, he checked into me and took me down on my left side at about 25mph. I broke my collarbone in two places, fractured my hip, sprained my wrist and got third degree road rash on my arm. Worst of all the guy who hit me didn't stop. Luckily my teammate riding my wheel had dropped out of the draft line to take a drink of water or it would have brought down the whole paceline.
As we all know, it's not if you will crash but when. The good news is I am now out of the hospital, and they tell me that I have to take the rest of the season off but I will be able to race again next season.
