Newbie from Central Ohio.
Good to see that you got hooked into this sport/lifestyle.
It is great getting the kids/family involved. Very positive messages.
Great job on your first race.

Welcome, Flash. Did you do the Cols Int'l Tri this weekend? I'm originally from Columbus (Westerville) and came back last year to do Fat Rabbit. It's a small community there, but seem to be some well-run races. Good luck and welcome, this forum is a great place for advice, guidance and motivation.

Congrats on the new lifestyle and the race!

Congratulations!
And yep.... I´m starting to think Triathlon entry forms should come with a warning "If you sign up you WILL BE addicted".
Hyperactive Trifueler!!!! (I refuse to let the status go :p)
Hey Welcome to the Stable...
I raced in Buckeye Lake a couple of weeks ago, up into your neck of the woods from Cincinnati. Enjoy the Fat Rabbit Racing Series, my wife and I are racing the HFP Series again this year.
Once you start, it becomes a life-changing experience! It didn't take long until my wife was hooked too.

No I did not. I did the Buckeye Lake Triathlon. The Sprint Triathlon.
It was a hoot. Although I'm not in love with Buckeye Lake's water!
Maybe I'll try an International or Olympic race next year, but I'm just getting the foundation under me for the time being.

Yeap, that's the one. It was decent and it wasn't too big, with too many people in it. So I was probably lucky there.
I'm doing the Buck Creek Sprint Triathlon on August 26th. It's a bit longer, but should be a bit more fun now that I have the jitters out of me.

You aren't kidding. When I told my wife I wanted to do another one this year, she was sort of surprised. Shocked maybe.
When I told my family that I was going to do a Triathlon this year I think they all sort of brushed it off. None of them have any concept of what it takes to even do a 5K, let alone even a sprint triathlon. So when I did it I think they couldn't believe it.
And to do another one caught them off guard.
Fun fun.

I decided in January that I needed a new approach to fitness.
My "I really need to work out" just wasn't cutting it. So instead I set a goal: doing a triathlon on July 15th.
Coming from a 33 year old former high school track and cross country athlete, it was not that hard to get into the groove. But the years of not working out did take their toll.
I'm happy to say, I did it. I finished 5th in my age group and beat my expected time by 10 minutes.
I'm so excited by my new found health that I signed up for another one in August.
It was really fun watching my kids' face when they saw me bike and run by them. Then having them there when I was finished. Made me fell really well.
Last thing, I really need to work on the swim.
