Kona Training Week 2
So what time are you looking for in Kona dude? Sounds like your training has just begun. What is the longest week you have on your schedule?
I like the quote btw man!!!
Yeah, my schedule builds pretty quickly over the next 2 months. I would imagine my longest days will be 3-4 weeks out as always, mid-September will probably be a busy time for me. In regards to time, well I have been cautioned to NOT put a lot of time estimates in my head by my coach, whi recomends trying to just enjoy the whole experience. In reality, although I had a VERY defined time in mind for IMAZ, I never felt time pressure while doing the race, I just executed what I had planned and figured it would take care of itself. Ultimately, if I could have a sub 10 hour Kona time, that would be cool, it's a hard course with difficult conditions.

Of course it's 'effing hard, it's IRONMAN!

Swim- 10,000 yards
Bike- 141 miles
Run- 39.2 miles
14 hours training.
A very solid week with runs in the morning as much as possible. 2 afternoon rides went well, but the heat is still here and the humidity has picked up into the 30-40% range. Had a VERY solid bike on Saturday, 71 miles @ 22.1mph average at 143HR. That felt like an Ironman training ride fore sure! Feeling much stronger this week, my heart rate is coming down and my pace is picking up even with the heat. The humidity is also welcome as it better simulates conditions in Kona.
