I am scheduled to do the full vineman in about 2 weeks. I would like to do some more races later on in Sept or Oct, but I am gonna be unable to train for about a month afterword due to Northern Warfare Training in Alaska. My question is this..am I going to lose alot by not being on a bike or swimming for a month afterword the race? Its not like I will be laying around, just not doing any tri-specific stuff. Ideas?

Thanks

you shuold be fine and the time off will do you some good. you won't be abe to do anything for deff. a week, maybe two - you actually feel like you have the flu in terms of energy.

Maybe try and get a run or swim in here and there to stay sharp, but don't sweat it too much. Northern warfare training - that sounds pretty cool.

Honestly you are gonna loose some just try to keep your HR up a week after the IM. You'll be fine man just don't loose the cardio base.

Try to do some activity, which can be unstructured, and get plenty of rest.

I did some walking for 2 days after my IM, and then I did shorter easier runs after that. Then back in the pool.:D

Nothing to it, but to do it

Some people lose quicker than others. You will probably lose a little but nothing that won't come back quickly. Your body remembers. The good thing is, time off increases desire to get back+motivation=great training sessions!
