My problem is the saddle of bike. It hurts like hell. I've decided my next purchase is going to be a new racing saddle. I put alot of miles on my ride so I know it's not that I need to just get used to it. This one just doesn't fit my body right. Is there any rule of thumb or saddle suggestions from anyone? Or is the best way to just go and try them out? I'm 5'11, 180 lbs. Thank you everyone for the help?

Yeah, the best idea is to try them if you can. Personally I'm very happy on the Selle Italias, but everyone is different.

Fix'ik...Sella Italia...Serfas...see if you can try them, otherwise your going to have to just purchase and use. You also might want to try different riding shorts/bibs. I've found that most bibs offer much more comfort than any shorts that I have every tried...I'm not really sure why though?

Unfortunately, you do have to try them - I went through a couple before I found the Fizik Arione Tri saddle - this one works great for me.

Everyone I've talked with at LBS's agree that the best seat they've come across is the Terry Fly

i used Terry fly for years and loved it....light, comfortable...a great saddle..needed a new saddle though and switched to Selle Stryke Pro...I love it too...NO numbness or discomfort and the boys are happy...so I'm happy. It is a bit heavier than the Terry but I'm not that much of a gram counter.

i heard that blackwell research's ism saddles are suppose to fix or reduce the problem of discomfort. not sure if that's true since i dont have an ism saddle.

forgot to mention, i've had discomfort recently when i ride long distances. never happened to me before, so i suppose i just need to readjust my saddle.

i believe i saw somewhere that most optimal adjustment is the front side angled at an incline, but that to me seems counter intuitive. anyone with an expert opinion?

I was having discomfort last year on my longer rides and I did two things:
1) Bought a Profile Design Tri-Stryke Ti Saddle
2) Bought a better set of Tri shorts. My old Zoots were about worn out.

I've tried angling the seat out a little, and it didn't help me. But now, with the new pants and seat, I haven't had problem one. My wife has the Cro/Moly Version and loves that seat.

Hope your LBS will let you try a seat. Ours even took our old seats as 'Trade-Ins', and gave a good discount on the new seat.

I have a San Marco Tri Azoto. LOVE it. Similar to the profile design saddle. The ISM is too wide for me.

As the Greyhound mentions, shorts make a huge difference. I love my new Nike Race shorts. Very comfy and affordable at $60.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
