I have a question for you bike guru's. I have a 2005 Trek 2300 and I am switching from a 9 speed triple Ultegra, to a 10 speed double Dura-Ace/Ultegra mix. I am doing Ultegra STI shifters, Dura-ace front and rear derails, an Ultegra 10speed cassette 12-23, Ultegra double crank.

I was wondering what is the best way to determine what size clamp you have on your front derail.? Other than just measuring the tube?

And, two. How do I know whether to get a short or medium cage for the rear derail.?

Thank you everyone! ;p

Why are you changing to DA? I know its some good quality stuff, but is something worng with your Ultrega? If not, are you selling?

Clamp size might be printed on the inside of your current FD. Other than that, shoot Trek an email.

RD cage length depends on your gearing. Triples with large cassettes need longer redrailluers. You would likely be fine with a medium.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

Kind of a long story. I am switching out my Ultegra 9 speed triple, so I can change to my Double, and I would rather have 10 speed in the rear. I rode on Dura-ace for the first time the other day, and felt a significant difference. So I thought I would switch out my rear and front derails with DA. Pretty much a bike overhaul. Haha. It needs new wheels on top of everything. Those bontrager race wheels are SHITTY.

I would be willing to sell, I've honestly crashed once or twice (this was my very first bike that im overhauling) so the rear is a bit scratched up. I would be selling:

-Rear cassette
-Rear Ultegra Derail.
-Front Ultegra Derail.
-Triple Ultegra Crank

Thank you for your help triguy. If you want any of the parts once the overhaul is done, I will give you first priority. :D

I just changed from 9sp Ultegra to 10sp DA earlier this year. My wife's new bike had 10sp Ultegra, and this way we can swap out racing wheels without any problems.

Didn't change out the crank though... With a 180mm, 9sp DA Crank, it's too pricey upgrade that too.

And yes, I'm selling.
1- 12-25 cassette
2 - 11x23 cassettes
9sp rear Deraillure
Ultegra Brakes ( no pads though )
2 QR Seat Covers ( neoprene, used )

I'll give tri-fuelers a chance before I go to eBay with the stuff. Email me direct...
