It was this morning in Norwalk, CT. I came in 470/600 which im not very happy about. It took me 27 min for a half mile swim which is horrendous. If i had been at 20 min i would have moved up about 100 places. 40 min for a 13 mile bike and 25 for the 5k which im not happy about either. Granted it was my first one idk if i was setting ym standards too high. =/

Congrats on getting the first out of the way. I was there too and my it was my girlfriend's first as well. The swim was tough for everyone I think b/c, in my opinion, they had too many people in each wave and it was almost impossible to avoid everyone. Are the results already posted online, or did you wait around afterwords for them to post them? Congrats again on the first Tri, I am sure there will be many more opportunities to bring that time down.

hey it was your first so an automatic PR! The hard part is knowing what to expect, and the details of transitions, etc. Now that you have a better idea of those, the next one will go even better :) Good job!

Good job, you're no longer a tri virgin! Now ya know what you've gotta work on. Dont sweat the first race. I was 7/8 in my AG my first race, with my pedal coming off of my bike about 2 miles into it. I think back to it now and laugh. You'll do the same.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

That's a pretty nice bike time. Don't be too upset if your time goals weren't reached. For your first, it's always just survive and finish, then perfect it in future races.

Congrats on your finish!

Nice job finishing your first tri! It always seems like that first open water swim race is tough for most people. Your bike and run splits are pretty impressive...
Now you know where you stand and what you can work on to improve (eg hop in the pool :-D). First race, automatic PR!
When's the next one?

Be PROUD! You showed up and you finished and that's great.

Well over 90% of the population would not even consider attempting what you did so be proud. You were brave to sign up and to show up and to complete the event.

Congratulations!

That is what a race does for you - it illustrates what areas that you need to put focus on. Whether it is OWS, or any number of things. It is always difficult to put down specific time goals - there are so many variables that can affect your overall time. As stated previously - be happy that you made the commitment to the sport/lifestyle and are determined to improving your performance. I was second to last out of the water in my first tri and there were several waves starting after me - It gets better!

Couldn't find the cartoon to download, but it was a cover of Triathlon life in 2006.
To Quote Frazz:
The race goes to the swift, I s'pose,
Or else the slow and steady.
Or else the passionate,
or those that bothered to get ready,
Or ones who coached themselves,
or those meticulously mentored
But every single time it goes to somone who entered.
Congrats!
