Hi there,

I have owned my forerunner 305 for two weeks now. Last night I had the training software that comes with the watch open on my laptop when I just closed the screen and let the batteries die out. When i woke up this morning plugged the computer in I had lost all my training data... I had a weeks worth stored on the watch but had deleted teh first week. Does this happen a lot?

I only lost one week of data but if i had lost a couple months I would be really pissed off. Any thoughts or comments?

Hmm never had that happen to me, sounds like something with the computer more then the watch but not too sure. I upload all my data too motionbased.com I like the break downs they provide better then the Garmin software and it backs up all the data. Its free and no i'm no affiliated with them in any way =p

The data should still be on the device, though. Are you saying it got deleted on both the computer and on the device? I've never had anything like that happen. If that's really the case you might want to contact Garmin.

no I deleted the workouts off the watch a few days before I lost them on the computer because it had a bunch of junk on there with me playing around. I thought it would be safe on the computer. I guess what I was wondering was if this was a feak accident, a common bug, or something built into the program that only records 30 workouts or something?

as a side note: I thought motion based was a purchased software (after paying as much as i did for the watch i didnt really want to buy another program) but I guess I was wrong. Problem solved Ill just use motion based

motionbased is great (I use use the free account), but I also use the training center garmin provides. Then again, I also use the trifuel log since it lets me add swimming stuff as well, so I tend to have a number of backups.
