tracking shoe mileage with keywords
I use this site it is the best

Thanks, but I'm happy with the log on this site, which is what I use. And I know people do just what I'm trying to do, so I'm waiting for one of them (Riv?) to chime in :)
Kyillee,
Did you create the equipment definition using the "Edit >> ... equipment" link at the top. This designates the keyword as a piece of equipment for a particular sport.
Then all you have to do select that keyword when you make a sport entry (you seem to have done this, but this paragraph is for everyone else). The units and the value in that keyword do NOT matter.
The main page of the log will display the total distance and hours for each piece of equipment you have defined (it is near the bottom). It calculates these values from the distance and times in the SPORT entries which have the equipment keyword linked too it.
Section 12.5 of the documentation repeats the above and has image of what the totals look like.
Let me know if this is not clear or you need more help.
Roger

ahhhhh ok. I just made it a keyword... I didn't notice the "equipment" option. I will give that a try. Thanks!
Turns out it was very easy.... the equipment tag let me associate the keywords I was already using with a sport, and now the totals appear.
Thanks Roger!

Ok so I know there is a way to use keywords to track the mileage on a pair of shoes. I have added keywords for the pairs of shoes, and have used them on the posts for runs in each pair. I also did give them units of miles and have added the mileage to the keyword each time it has been used.
What is the best way to say "show me how many miles pair of shoes X has on it?"
I have tried the "view log" with "show keywords" and the keyword selected, and that gives me a list of all times I used it and associated mileages, but if I ask for the other option of "display log totals" the totals don't just reflect the keyword I asked to see, but all the log.
Thanks!
