Wetsuit Hotspots

I have a HIM next weekend and its my first tri with a wetsuit. I have no where in my area to practice with it so I was wondering where are all the hotspots to hit with Bodyglide so I dont miss any?

If it is a sleeveless suit hit ankles to the calfs to help get it off easier, under the arms and back of the neck for chaffing. I dont have a full suit so I dont know if there are any other spots for those.

Behind the knees and around wrists as well in a full suit. Make sure the body glide is around your entire neck. Helps for the chafing and getting the suit on and off.

Equally important--you really should practice with it once beforehand, if only in a pool. You want to make sure your stroke is OK. Also, wetsuits get more flexible when wet, and they retain that flexibility for a while even if they feel dry. If you've never worn it, or haven't worn it all season, a wetsuit can feel pretty inflexible during that first swim.

At least for me the key is to be liberal with the glide don't skimp out...

I have a sleeveless suit, and I always end up with rub marks on the inside of my upper arm (near thebicep/tricep area) from where my arm rubs on the suit under my arm.

Your neck, your neck and your neck - you don't want a hickey. Armpits and back of knees for chafing; ankles (whole shin, really) and wrists to make it easier to get off.

My first wetsuit swim was at an Oly and I had never used one before. It was fantastic. I had no idea how great that buoyancy felt. Just remember that when you first get in the water, the water gets in the suit and it is cold! But it warms up. Be sure to use the 5 minutes between waves to get in the water and pull the wetsuit away from your neck to let some more water in. It will warm up and when the gun goes off you will be nice and toasty.

I have a sleeveless as well. The spot that got me was the back side of my armpits and a little lower. I'm not sure if it was from the suit of from the TYR sleeveless shirt I was wearing. For my next tri, I will have layers of bodyglide there. It hurt SO bad on the run that I thought I was bleeding. I almost just took my shirt off because it was rubbing so bad. Good luck man.

I use a QR Superfull and I've actually never had any hotspots from it (3 seasons of use, about 10-15 tris). I put bodyglide around the ankles to make it easier to get off when I remember to. I think that if you can find a full sleeve suits and it fits perfectly, there shouldn't be any problems. Looking at the above posts, I didn't realize how lucky I am to have a well fitting wetsuit...
