I need your help.
I used lambs wool ear plugs. Bought them at the Pharmacy. They were made with lambs wool and beeswax. You had to warm them up with your hands to make them plyable. Then you insert them in your ears.
I use silicone ear plugs - not these exact ones but similar.
I had a lot of ear problems when I was a kid, nothing too severe but it made swimming an issue. The best solution I was given were cotton balls soaked in baby oil. The cotton would easily conform to fit and the baby oil acted as a sealant to close up any gaps. Though that was quite a few years ago, not sure they'd recommend that now.
Personally now I use these:
Thanks for your help. I'll be ordering some of those and I'll take them to my doctor to get them approved. Thank you very much.

I'm not sure how much what you do after helps... but I know that there are ear drops (or even just using a little rubbing alcohol in your ear) that make it drain better. Perhaps that might help, in addition to ear plugs, etc?
Best of luck!

Here's my sotry:
I was born with both of my eardrums busted, and after several (and I mean SEVERAL) surgeries I am now back to pretty much normal (meaning... I can fly on an airplane, splash around water/etc) but only until recently the doctor told me it was ok for me to swim (yes, believe it or not, I had never never really swam before in my life up untill 3 months ago) here's the catch:
He said that the development of my ear canal had been messed up by so many ear surgeries and now it's slightly deformed and more similar to the one of a 5 year old kid than to a 19-year old man (yes, I am still a teen, but I am only 4 months away, so cut me some slack) which really dificults draining and endangers my weak (and slightly broken) eardrum because it exposes it to water (water equals mid-ear infection) and I am in risk of loosing my hearing.
After trying again today (after 2 weeks of being out of training because of an ear infection) my ear was again flooded by water and I was very upset. This is not a drama-novel, so I won't go into details, but if you guys could only imagine the frustration that it means that because of a birth defect (as small as it is, and trust me, I am aware of other people who have overcome greater obstacles to finish a Tri than the one I am facing) not being able to even START my first triarthlon. It was very upsetting.
So i figured, there's three things I can do:
-Complain (I already did, and it didnt help ;) )
-Turn into a duathlete (but hell no, finishing a triathlon means way too much to me just to quit), or
-Find something that keeps water out of my ear.
I am already using costum-made earplugs, swimming cap and all the stuff the doctors have reccomended to me.
Do any of you have any experience with ear-issues and could reccomend any technique, product or even surgey to help me correct this?
I would REALLY appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance
