Tri shorts to withstand chlorine
Unfortunately...I haven't found a pair of tri shorts yet that can withstand chlorine...You can wash them often and that helps mitigate the effect...but they will deteroriate fast anyway.
I try to buy tri shorts on sale or buy speedos on sale for training...knowing they may not last long.

Best bet is to do a quick change once exit the pool.
As you are right that tri-shorts come apart pretty quickly in the pool.

Sugoi and TYr make swimsuits that are more chlorine resistant - i'd save the more expensive tri shorts for closer to the race and if its under a wetsuit you really don't need to get used to swimming in it soley anyway.
I have the speedo endurance short and love it. It seems to hold up to the chlorine the best of any short I've tried. I would recommend it then switch to a tri short once you're out of the pool.

I'll second the Speedo Enurance line. I have the racing cut suit and it's great. They also make a more square cut if you are a little shy. :)

Not sure that it is shy - but I like the square cut Speedo Endurance.

I have used the pearl izumi tri shorts for swimming, and while they have faded slighty, they are still in perfect shape after a year using them.

There isn't an abundace of open water in my area ti train in, so I spend my swim time in the pool. I usually swim 3-4 times a week, with at least 2 of the workouts being a combo of swim+bike so....
I am looking for a pair of tri specific shorts that will stand up to the beating chlorine gives to most training clothes. I have a pair of Pearl Izumi tri shorts but over the last year they are faded and rubbed pretty thin to the point that they will rip soon. Seeing as I will be using the new ones alot, does anyone have any positive experience with tri shorts standing up to chlorine?
