How much strength for running?

Just wondering, when you run do you stop every few blocks to do pushups or squats? If you do squats or pushups, do you do them before you run, after or in-between the workouts?

push-ups arent going to help you with running. However, they will help your shoulders not to hurt on long bike rides. When I run, I run. Stopping that often will throw me off. Not to mention, you'll look pretty silly.

Push-ups are a great thing and so are squats. Strength training is a great way to prevent injury. Do it on your easy days. You can do it before or after a run...it doesn't matter too much since it's only an easy run.

Yeah I don't think I have ever seen any one pause during a run to do them cuz I think it might jack up your rythm but hey it might try it one day.

I do some pushups and core work after a few of my runs.

I'll do core/flexibility/strength training after the run - not during.
