Looking to do my first Sprint in a month or so. Looking for suggestions for wetsuits, or changing between stages. Are there wetsuits/trisuits I swim in then bike and run in? Would I change altogether in the transition areas? All help for this or anything else welcomed.

Ok to answer your questions:

No you have to get out of the wetsuit :) Just trust me on this one you would be the first one I have EVER seen do a whole tri in a wetsuit.
Would I change altogether in the transition areas?
Again nah man normally you have a trisuit or swim shorts (jammers) on underneath and you just strip the wetsuit off and you are still wearing clothes you race in... You can't go into the raw in the middle of a transition area unless you are at an Ironman because they have changing tents.

Food for thought unless you know you love tri's I would maybe rent a wetsuit or just wear swimwear. Granted we all love the sport and everything but that is a big dime you have to throw down. It is a good advantage but it's not night and day. Just an idea...

I'd agree with Jstyle, the wetsuit isn't necessary, specially for your first sprint. In a sprint you're usully not in the water long enough to worry about it.

And most will wear the same clothes throughout. Check out trisports.com for some examples of common tri clothes. But in the end wear what you're comfortable with.

Yeah trisports has a good amount of stuff on their site. If you used the code TF2006 I think you still get a discount.

Hello: For a Sprint I recomend that you get a trisuit. The one I have is a one piece, spandex, with the zipper in front, the bottom has the soft padding (chamois?) and the legs have that rubber thing around to keep them from going up on your thighs. Very easy to get on and off. Super comfortable. With this type of suit, you don't have to worry about putting on a pair of riding shorts on top of your swim suit, in a hurry, all wet, etc. You can do all 3 legs of the race in it.
I recomend this suit for Sprints and Olys. For Half Iron Man and Iron Man Triathlons, it is better to have a two piece. This makes going to the bathroom much easier.
Good luck, enjoy the race and welcome to this awesome sport. I am sure you will get hooked, like the rest of us.

I also had this same question. My fiance and I are doing a sprint in august and I have the Desoto shorts and top but for him...do Men swim without a top then throw on a tri top if they are doing 2 pieces?

sorry if that's a dumb question :)

Not a dumb question. Tho it is tough putting on a tri top when you are all wet. If wearing a wetsuit just wear the top under the wetsuit. Others will just swim with the top on even if not in a wetsuit.

that all depends on how entertaining he cares to be for the onlookers. seriously have him try this to get an idea just have him take a shower and before drying off try and put on the top, you should get quite a laugh. I made that mistake at my first tri so now its either swim with the top on or no top (sprints only atleast for me).
