Hey folks,

I am officialy telling all you guys even though many of you must not even remember me anymore that I am back to training.

I've had something on my knees that I think it's called in English Chondromalacia Pattela

More info on http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/chondromalacia-patella/DS00777.

I've had a bilateral Chondromalacia so you guys can imagine that I've spent the last few months with absolutely no training. I could not swim because I recently began my Masters Degree course so it's now a matter of time management.

But after more than a month of physiotherapy I am gladly back at "training". I can now do some slow 30-50 minutes rides on my bike and I'm thinking of doing 4 PREP-like weeks of slow riding till my muscles get back on track.

Other than that I am going to lift a bit. I am skipping running for at least 6 months so that I can build confidence in my muscles again.

And most important is telling how I came to this situation. It's easy to imagine:

too much too soon.

Too big of a volume in too bit of a schedule. After the car hit I came back to riding with pelotons and all sorts of wrongs things that I could not have done.

So here's my advice: those things we read on the books about increasing mileage THEY ARE TRUE! Follow a periodization regime or else you may get yourself hurt like I am.

I am currently in a level II Chondromalacia and that means it's never coming back to level I. It has no cure but my muscles can develop to overcome the debts of my knees problems. And that's what I am working at now!

I will be only a cyclist for those next 6 months but I'll be here at Trifuel giving my few '1 cents' with anything I can help.

Hope to trade some more information with anyone who need to know anything more about my treatment and it's good to be back here.

Yikes! Sorry to hear about that. Glad to hear that your back on track. I had a little bout with mild patellofemoral when I first started cycling, but it was never that bad...

good luck with that, that happened to me while training for the AZ marathon, did the half and really screwed it up. My knee is finally much better and lifting weights really helps. I go to the gym 2x a week and if I dont my knee hurts when I run. And good luck with the Masters and training! I just compelted my first year and it was pretty much hell and very little training. I'm hoping the second year will be better but I hear its worse. ANyway, good luck!
