June 10, 2007- 800 meter swim- 16.2 mile bike -5k run
It was absolutely perfect triathlon weather as far as I am concerned. I did really well on the swim even though I stopped once when I heard someone yell HELP! I couldn't tell exactly where or who it was. We were in the early part of the swim and it was still sort of a melee. I saw a cayak go over there so I moved on.
The bike leg was a good one for me...each year I set a new PR for that bike course and this year was no exception. In fact, I set a PR for pace on a bike leg of any triathlon I have ever done...this was my 20th tri.
I probably didn't push hard enough early on the road, but I was really feeling good and having fun sort of in my zone. Guess I didn't want to get out.
This was my 4th time to do this event and I set a PR for the entire event by over 3 minutes...3rd in my old aged group...nice trophies...plenty of post race pizza for particpants and spectators, bagels.
What can I say; a wonderful experience. Glad to be alive and be able to do this.
