Quakerman/Steel Lake Nockanixon Ride
Hi!
I live about 1:40 from the lake. I am registered for an OW swim clinic there on Sunday July 8th (wkend before my first Half IM of the season)... I may be running after the clinic. I wish I could squeeze in the extra trip to ride with you but the next couple of wks are jammed...Then it's mini taper time! :)
I am interested. Weekday late afternoons or early evenings are better for me. I am about 40 minutes North of the lake.
Are you signed up for Steelman?

Wise decision with all the training and other things our wives put up with.
Let me know about the ride. My schedule is pretty wide open during the week this summer.

Hi all. Curious to what the Quakerman ride is like, haven't done the race before. Website said 3 loops, rolling hills. Are they really "rolling" or is this going to be a tough ride? Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks!
the hill on Rt 313out T1 aredoozies
I have mapped it out but am not satisfied w/ profile results I will try a couple more sites to see if I can fix it.
I'm not a good climber and this course is nothing but hills but I still loved it and that was the general consensus of the group that rode it.

JRH is right. The hill on 313 is a tough climb. There are some other decent hills on the course, but nothing like 313. I found the toughest part of the course was an extended slight incline on the back side of the lake. It was tough to keep up a good pace on the second and third loop. Overall a nice course.
Some hills on the run, but nothing too bad.

thanks for the feedback on the ride. sounds like I need to make sure to get some more hills in these next several weeks before the race!

Look at this picture of my ride around the lake (two laps of the actual course). The computer was not calibrated for the altitude, but it will give you an idea of what this rolling course really is. There are few good hills. The biggest one is on the RT313 on the way from St. Park Rd back to 563.
