I did the Yorktown sprint on sunday and damn that was a good race. The overwhealming theme is damn that was fast I felt like a baby Lance out there on the bike. I will post my race report in the race report section and it is a good read but sit there when you have some time on your hands. Just as a little background for this race I was competing against my little brother in law Rob Bell. He has lived with us for a while now because of extenuating circumstances with his father (don't ask that is not a good subject)... Anyways we have always been competitive and I have never lost a tri against him yet, lots of runs but never a Tri.

This is what I said when I saw the results...

1 freaking second you gotta be joking me ahhhhhhh one second dammit!!! That is how much I lost to him on this one!

All in all great splits for me 750M SWIM 12MILE BIKE AND 5K RUN:

5th out of 24 racers in my ag (25-29)
JOSHUA BURGESS

AG PLACE TIME
15th place in my ag on the swim 13:34 Swim which is a PR for me on that distance in a race (I have done faster in practice but not in a race)
9th place in my ag on my t1 2:16 This is definately a PR it knocks it in half compared to what I did last year
1st fastest f'in bike in my age group :) 29:53 damn that is pretty quick at 24mph PR (I felt like Red5 for a second shhh bryan let me have my happy time :) )
21st not so hot but oh well it's only t2 1:43 not a PR and I dunno what happened maybe if I woulda knocked off one second here I wouldn't have lost but i'm not bitter...
10th which is better then half of my ag 21:36 not a bad 5k it is by far the fastest I have ran all year long since the IM killed all of my speed!

1:09:00 5th in my ag out of 24 people and only loosing to Rob by one second. Did I say one second enough???

This is his results which were pretty impressive for only having swam 5 times this year and biked 3...

ROB BELL
2nd in his AG of 16-19 out of 7
18years old
AG Place \ Time
7 \ 14:50 SWIM
2 \ 1:55 T1
2 \ 32:22 BIKE
4 \ 1:13 T2
1 \ 16:41 RUN (this was the fastest run of the day PERIOD)
2:00 PENALTY (Blocking it was a BS penalty the refs were over anxious)
Total time 1:08:59

Thanks guys yeah I just felt great out there. It's like I never ran out of juice. I kept expecting an uphill so I didn't go all in on the bike but an uphill never came.

Great job, J. It's crazy how that IM fitness can just magically translate into extra speed in the shorter stuff. If only it worked the other way around!
