Broken Kickstand
Kickstands are horribly unsafe. Theyre not made to support anything besides the weight of the bike, and have been involved in a lot of accidents. They are known to pierce through people legs in accidents. Just use a wrench to take the thing off and do not replace it. All that should be holding it on is one bolt. Lean the bike against something or lay it on the ground, kickstands are stupid.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
i agree with triguy. A friend of mine has a horrible scar on his leg from when he was a kid and a kickstand shard tore up his leg. They are a bad idea all around.
"If your not going to win, make the fellow in front of you break a record."
This is blessing in disguise. Kickstands are like bad shortcuts....they seem like a good idea at first, but afterwards you'll wish you never tried it.

Not fast enough.
I agree, take them off. I have removed every kickstand from every single bike that my kids have owned over the years (and most of the neighbors). They just drop their bikes on the ground anyway!
I can't even remember the last bike I owned that had a kickstand...probably was back when I was a little kid of something! :(

Back when I bought my road bike last year my wife's parents couldn't believe I paid over $1,000 for a bike and it didn't have a kickstand.

A friend of my Dad's borrowed his bike a couple days ago to go riding. Before he returned it, his son was riding on it and got the bright idea of sitting on the bike while the kickstand was down.
He snapped it in half. Has anyone ever heard of this happening before? The kid was only 7 or 8 and didn't weigh very much.
