I am just getting over a pretty bad ear infection from water in my ear after swimming in a pool last Friday. I just finished my last dose of levaquin antibotics and I have to say it took a little toll out of me. I lost my sense of taste, kept me up at night and made me physically tired. Hoping to get back to training tomorrow and I was just wondering if this is normal for antibotics. Not that it matters much now, just curious is all.

May be related to the medicine itself...yes.
Some of the symptoms you have are adverse reactions from the medicine.
Now, also keep in mind that you are recovering from an infection so that puts the body under stress.
Also the lost of taste might be part of the congestion and imflamatory process, remember that the ear, nose and throat ae interconected.
Give it a few days...drink plenty of fluids...catch up with your rest, and take it easy for another few days, and you´ll be back

you may also want to get some ear dryer so it dosn't happen again. What i've seen used, if i remember correctly,is a mixture of rubbing alcohol and vinigar, stings, but it cleans and dries your ear canall. I know theres also some commercial stuff out there.

Thank you for your replys. I am now back in action and my sense of tase has come back. I lost a little bit, but that was probably due to sitting on the couch for 6 days.

I went and got some drops and I will be using them after every swim; don't want this to happen again.

I once got a very severe ear infection from diving in fresh water. I was almost walking in circles because my balance was so off. I have used ear drop religiously since then and have had no problems. Half and half vinegar and alcohol. Same thing you buy at the store, but a heck of a lot cheaper. Just refuse the dropper you bought and buy the ingredients next time.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
