I have CRANKSET Bontrager Race 52/42/30
CASSETTE Shimano 12-25, 9 speed

I allways ride in the 52
I see that most tri bike come with CRANKSET 53/39
CASSETTE 12-25, 10 speed
What is the best (fast gear config. to go with)

The fastest gear to go with is the biggest one you can push. For most people, that's 52-53. You'll see some REALLY strong time trialists pushing 55-56, but for us mere mortals, that's just going to destroy some knees. I think that you should settle in during a race in the middle of your cassette (probably somewhere right near 17) since it leaves you plenty of leeway for up/down hills or going with/into the wind. If you find yourself gearing towards the higher gears (12, 13, 15, whatever) on flats with no wind, go ahead and get a bigger chainring. Otherwise, you might actually be setting yourself up to be cross-chained a lot, which will wear down your drivetrain much more quickly.

There is also the issue of crank arm length. In effect, a 52-tooth front chainring with a 165mm crank arm will be harder to torque than a 52-tooth front chainring with a 175mm crank arm because the short arm = less leverage. Now I'm not advocating changing crank arm length as a way to tweak your gearing but it does affect effective gearing somewhat.

guys I ride on the big gear in the front and some were around the middle in the back. I there are times that I can get up to 29-30 mph in the flats with the wind on my back but I average only 20-22.5. I want 23-25 I was hoping there was some gearing that I could do to get it

Gearing won't really help you get faster (unless your gearing is really bad, but yours sounds like it's fine). If you want to get faster, do intervals. Those will make you faster than anything else. Doing long rides maybe once a week (not too easy....go moderate) and a tempo ride (super hard) will help a lot, too.

My normal ones (once a week) are 4x8 min at 20-25 off MHR w/4 min rest at 70 off. I'll do 5x1k on the track right after. Sometimes (maybe once a month or so) I'll do a set of max efforts, maybe 6 x 2 min or 10 x 1 min. I also do a tempo brick once a week (45 min at 25-30 off MHR on the bike then ~5 mile tempo run) and a long ride, which usually has some harder efforts in it, just not as hard as the mid-week workouts.
