Ankle sprain

About two weeks ago, I stepped off the deck (one step down) and my foot rolled completely inward upon landing and I did a good impersonation of a skyscraper implosion demolition by going straight down.

It's still pretty sore but I can put my weight on it and walk. It kills if my foot twists in or out in any way.

The ankle didn't swell that much and I didn't see any bruising. I don't think the damage is that bad but the fact it still hurts after 2+ weeks tells me I tweaked it pretty hard.

This is the first time injury has really come into the picture relating to tris. I've always had some scrapes, bruises, road rash from falls, but nothing that held me down for long.

It's kind of maddening. I can't hurry this healing process along but I'm getting panicky about losing the whole season from a stupid mistep.

Hope the ankle gets better! I have injured my ankles a lot playing soccer and it is no fun! I managed to ride the "Hilly Hundred" (a ride here in Indiana) a week after i twisted one. My ankles still hurt to this day if i turn them a certain way. Just make sure you stay off of it for a bit and get back into it slow. I kept riding when i felt like i could and then started with some slow jogging. After a few weeks I am sure you will be able to get back into it. You won't loose the whole season. Keep your head up!!!

injuries this time of the year are frustrating. Just crosstrain as much as possible around your ankle and when it heals you will be able to get into race condition pretty quick.

I did the same thing April playing soccer. I couldnt run for about a month. I made sure to hit the pool and bike. Biking really didnt hurt it that much as you can tape it up really easily. I would not run at all, that just does not allow it to heal. I am finally able to run now without any pain.

I went to a grass field and did some agility drills to get some strength back into the ankle, that seemd to work well. Also you can use the half balls at a gym to help strengthen.

Its sucks, i know..

I feel your pain!
I averaged a sprain a year for 20 years of basketball,
for me what worked was two buckets of water: one hot, one ice cold.
I alternated insertion of the injured ankle for up to 30 minutes twice a day. Usually I had excellent results, often playing without pain within a week, sometimes only a few days with taping.

Persevere, with treatment even after swelling disappears for up to four weeks after the injury. It's never too late to treat it!
