Don't know the shoes but they are proabbly fine. I use specialized sport comp shoe (3 years old) and Shimano 105 pedals. - for the extra weight saving to go to ultegra pedals was another 60$ -said f-that and got a boat load of CO2s, tubes and lubes. I can lose more than 50g just by walking a loop around my desk at work..
Save your moolah and when you hit terminal speed upgrade.
