Good race and report, now you're hooked.
You must have one helluva backstroke, 4th in the swim!
Great to have family and friends there cheering you on.
Congrats, man.

Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.

Thanks guys. The backstroke was okay. I never practice it. I always practice freestyle and I just couldnt do it. I'm going to be going to the lake more often to practice. I think I could've placed a few places higher with a good swim.

This is something I posted in my in my blog and I didnt really want to type everything out again.
It was a good time. I got to the park with plenty of time. I went for a little bike ride and a short run and had plenty of time leftover to do some stretching. The swim was TERRIBLE! I got too worked up and couldnt get in a rhythm. I was breathing really hard and fast. I was wondering if I was even going to finish the swim. The last quater of the swim, there were seaweeds all over my legs. It was a gross feeling. When I could finally touch, I stood up and I was so winded. I took a couple of walking steps then jogged out and up the little hill to the transition area where my bike and other stuff was. Luckily, my bike was right at the end. I strapped my shoes on quickly, got my helmet on, grabbed the bike off the rack and headed out of the transition. I wanted to have my shoes already connected to my bike but the shoes have three straps so it doesnt work so well. I'm glad my bike was at the end because I didnt have very to go to get out of the transition. I got up to speed pretty quickly. The bike was definitely my favorite and the most fun. I past between 20 and 30 people. I averaged about 21mph the whole way which is pretty good for me. I got back to the park and took a couple of high speed corners. That was a lot of fun. Roberto brought a cowbell and rung it a lot when I passed them. That was cool. I hopped off the bike and headed back into the transition area. I still had my shoes on and they have pretty big cleats that hook into the pedals. When I got to my spot on the rack I did some sliding and alsmost fell down. I switched shoes, grabbed some water then headed out for the run. The first mile wasnt too bad and I was actually holding a decent pace. I passed about 6 people on the run but a few passed me too. About half way through the run, I could feel a cramp in my left hamstring. I shortened up my stride a little because the more I bent my leg, the more I could feel it. About 50 yards before the finish, I saw my dad and the cramp really kicked in. I slowed down and grabbed my leg. Some guy behind me said, in a really rude tone, "Tough luck." I was like alright buddy, you're not passing me, not today. I had a really funny gait but I picked up my pace and sprinted to the finish. It hurt so good. It took a little while but it felt better and was never a full-blown crap. Thank goodness! Liv and my parents were there along with Dave and Amanda and Roberto and Michelle came too. It was really awesome to have friends there to watch and cheer you on. It really means a lot to me. If you guys read this, thanks a bunch! Alright, now its time for a nap.
When I first posted this, I forgot to post my time and how I did. I didnt quite place as high as I hoped. I placed 14th in the male beginner category. My time was 1:10:02(one hour, ten minutes and two seconds). I placed 4th in the swim which was surprising! I placed 23rd in the bike and transitions. I thought I did better than that considering how many people I passed.
