ok I dont want to start a huge war, but I'm afraid that might be tough to avoid given the title of this thread. I am currently considering switching my road bike from Shimano to Campy. I have full Shimano on my tri bike and now that I have an Italian road bike I really want to get Campy. I'm just wondering what the major differences are (especially in terms of shifting) I know Campy is lighter on comparable quality levels. Any insight anyone can provide would be appreciated.

thanks a lot

all i know is that campy uses the thumb clicker to shift on the road brifters; besisdes that from what i've heard they're roughly the same shifting quality.

up the top end, im talking record and dura ace, there is only a small decrease in quality due to the complexity of the campy system. Campy uses the STI style levers to shift up and the thumb clickers to shift down (if i remember correctly) where as shimano has the STI lever do it all.

dont get bitter, get better

Or wait another month or so until SRAM has released their bar end shifters. Its all preference. I like SRAM from my MTB and will continue to support the company. Campy I am sure works fine, never had it on any of my bikes.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

I have the campy on one bike and shimano on another---like the shimano better personally.
