This was my first race of the season, and only my second race ever. I did this race last year after getting my first real road bike and I really enjoyed it. Since then I have bought a new bike, and have been attempting to assemble a training plan that would help my running as much as my cycling. Running was always my weak point as I primarily participated in time trial bicycle races.
Anyways, last year I finished the race (2km run, 22.8km bike, 5km run) in 1hr 23mins. This year I shaved a few minutes off that time and finished in 1hr 16mins and a few seconds, good for 20th overall. With that finishing time last year I would have been 7th! I guess the nice weather brought out tougher competitors. ;)
The most important thing is that I had a blast, had a few friends and family on hand to cheer me on, and realized how much more i need to train to get to where I want to be. Here are some pictures my brother took.

Great job! I like seeing how my hard work is paying off by getting a PR. And I also find races remind me that while I'm doing better, there is always more to do to get to where I want to go.
