bar end shift levers, up or down ?
I've seen both, I prefer the down position though. My Guru came with them in the down position. It may also be the way the bike was setup by the Bike Shop.

I've used both, each for a long amt of time. And I liked different things about both. With them up, I felt I could shift easier (in terms of the amt of pressure I had to apply being in a comfortable direction). However, when I have my bars shorter and they are right at my hands, I (mostly) like them pointing down since I can just leave my hands rested over them. The only issue I've had with down is that sometimes there is more "down" that they can go and the angle I'm at makes it hard to see that. I've just switched back to that this year, so I'm not quite used to it when I think about it (although doing it is working just fine).

Thanks for the info. I went for a ride today and felt that downwards is more comfortable for resting.

Peter Reid rides em' up

I have a Cervelo P2C and it comes with Shimano Dura-Ace bar end shift levers. When I purchased it the levers where pointing straight up . I thought this was odd because on long rides it makes riding on the aerobar unconfortable because you could not strech your thumbs out. I took my bike for maintainance and they actually turned them around pointing down. I have not gone on a long ride yet but just riding around the block it already seems more comfortable to me that way. I went online and looked at some pics and noticed that Cannondale comes facing down, QROO comes facing down, Trek comes facing down, Specialized comes facing down. Why in world Cervelo have them pointing upwards ? Any reason ?
