sauna to pool? am i dirty?
I think it is the visual more than anything. I can't do the whirlpool at my gym because I have seen people walk from the steamroom directly into it. I'm not a germaphobe and I know everyone is sweating in there, but I can't get past it.
The chemicals in the pool probably kill most of the things you bring in the pool with you.

That's about the most ridiculous thing I've heard today.
if it happens again with the same person just tell them they should be happy you leave the water to go to the washroom.
Public ppols are a disgusting necessity - My peeve are the people that blow nose rockets in the shower in the changeroom - crocs needs to make ankle boots now!!
This thread has officially made me ill :)
The pool floaties have to be the most disgusting things about swimming in public pools. But then if you swim in open water... especially if there are birds and other wildlife - that's a whole different kind of public toilet :)
Cheers to those who brave the waters!
I can't wait for my next OW swim....

This seems nuts. There is almost nothing that can survive those pool chemicals

eh, everything is sterile in the pool, im not bothered by much in the pool anymore. I just really hate it when i show up to practice and there are a couple of ducks sitting in the middle of the pool.
Some things are best not thought about to much.
Just watch out for those fresh water jellyfish floating on the surface of the pool and hottub.
Let's see...everyone pees in the pool, sweats in the pool, blows snot in the pool...I'm not sure why they even bother posting the "please shower" signs...
But since we're on the subject...there's a private outdoor pool that takes this one step too far. The "please shower" also goes on in detail as to how you should shower...specifically asking you to wash between your cheeks!

i am in the habit of doing sauna/pool repeats to loosen up the muscles especially after hard weeks (or even hard days). hot/cold is a great way to recuperate (even if the pool's not as cold as an ice bath)
this morning i came out of the sauna and i got in the pool to sit by the steps and someone told me to shower first
i had just sweated in the pool for 3000yds before hitting the sauna...!
he said that unlike the steam room, salts/oils accumulate on the skin because the sauna is dry heat. i was a little stunned that he was explaining this to me since i was dripping.
my rationale has always been that once you've washed off the outside world in the shower, you're free to swim, sauna, steam, jacuzzi, as you wish... people are going to sweat in the water. what about the mucus, hair, bandaids, bugs, and god-knows-what-else?
what do you guys think?
