Hi,

I am new to triathlons, (but not new to swimming, biking, or running). But I'm looking to get the best training books.

I am looking to train for an ironman, probably next year.

Which one of the following books are best?

Going Long: Training for Ironman-Distance Triathlons
The Triathlete's Training Bible

Are there any others I should get?

Thanks!

The Triathlete's Training Bible is a must.

I concurr, Triathlete's Training Bible is amazing. I bought it about a week ago and i has helped me structure the macro AND micro structure of my training to really optimize my time. Little tips and things that (only after you read them) become obvious to you and help SOOO much with training.
I think the biggest difference it has made to me is that while I am training as much (if not more) I no longer feel tired all-day-long, and that is priceless!

Get em both of Amazon. Theyre different books. The TTB is an excellent book and must have, but its all theory and structuring, not so much on how to.

Cant ever have too much information on this sport sitting on your bookshelf. I have six books pertaining to triathlon and endurance sports on the shelf next to me.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

Definitely get both books. Going Long has some good IM specific info in it, while TTB is the book you can start using now to get in shape for next year's effort.

Thanks everyone. I'll get them both.

Any other books that are good?

Gale Bernhard's (sp?) Training Plans for Multisport Athletes is a nice one. It's probably a more accesible book for beginner/early intermediate racers than the others we've mentioned, but it is still pretty detailed and useful.

The Triathlete's Guide to Run Training.

To me, it makes more sense than Pose or Evolution Running.

Good luck!

Oh, and Triathlon Swimming Made Easy (Total Immersion book).

I haven't found a good book on cycling yet (well, at least one I would actually buy).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that book does describe evolution running, doesn't it?
It is by Ken Mierke who I think does the evolution video too.
