The first traithlon of the season and always very popular with athletes in the Netherlands.
Time to feed my new tri bike it's first race miles.
After riding it for the first time yesterday ( day before the race), I had just one word to describe my Specialized S-Works Transition;
"An Ass-Kicking on wheels"
Today was the race and after the 1000m swim ( 14'20") the sufferfest began. Strong headwinds hitting the racers on the bike course. Sure there was tailwind on the way back, but the 2 lap out and back was destroying the field. ( nobody biked sub 60min) After the 40k bike came my fav. part, the run. It took me about a mile to get into the pace. Got it worked out and managed a negative split.
Feeling pretty good at the end, not getting beaten in the last 100m like last year ( came in 11th last time) Last year I was 2-3min faster, but I improved 2 places compared to 2006. Bas won the race in 01.54'10".
Henk one of my rivals who specializes in short course tri's came in 7th in 01.57'42".

I came in 9th (out of 142) in 01.59'06"
Swim: 14'20"
Bike: 1.06'13"
Run: 38'33"
Total: 1:59:06
