Question about bike for a tall person
at you looking for a tri specific bike or a road bike? i am 6'5" and have a giant OCR 1 size XL. it fits great and is very comfortable. the most valuable thing to do when getting a first bike, in my mind, is to have a professional fit done at your local bike shop. there are many things that go into a correctly fitting bike (frame size, stem length, crank length, etc.), so it would be hard for anyone on this forum to just pick a size for you.
There's bikes out there for everyone. You'll have no problem getting one- the biek shops might not have the largest sizes in stock, but they can usually get em in a week.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
Thank you both for the reply. CGrtoth, do you have any recommendations about buying the Giant? I was specifically looking at buying a Giant.
Well, every person likes their fit slightly different. That, and the geometry between models is also slightly different. So it would be hard for me to give you a golden fit rule. The best way to get the right frame size (unless you are as tall as I am, then you pretty much get the largest size) is to get a professional fit. That will set you up on the right frame and get all of the other measurements in the ballpark. I did my own fit on the first bike I owned and it worked out OK. I had to buy some aftermarket things to make it fit right (stem, handlebars, seatpost). When I upgraded I had the fit down at my LBS and it turned out much better than the self fit. There were still a few minor adjustments I had to make, but it was very good in general. If you are looking to purchase a bike online, you should be aware that you may have to invest a bit more than the initial cost to get the fit correct for you. Also, you will not have the support that you would get from the LBS (many offer free tune ups to those who buy bikes from them). Just a few things to think about.
Okay thanks a lot CGRoth, I will make sure to go down to my local bike shop.

Hi, I'm new to triathlons and I have yet to purchase a bike. I was looking online for the right size bike and I am not sure what size to get. Any suggestions?
