How the heck does creatine slip in there?
I do like how The Training Bible is at the top. I HAVE gotten a lot faster since throughly studying the book and structuring my training.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
Not sure exactly why they point out the run benefits of creatine, when I'm pretty sure that it will hurt you more on the run than the swim or bike. I think they could've picked a better aero helmet, too.
I did find a better deal on the bike gel mount, though:

Especially since people got DQed at St. Anthonys for wearing that helmet. It apparently lacks the main certification required by USAT... but not UCI or anyone else...

Very good Podcast David Warden has! I did catch that top 20 list on the podcast it was good.
Hyperactive Trifueler!!!! (I refuse to let the status go :p)

My Chrono has the CPSP sticker....if your helmet has that it's good for any USAT race.

Greatness is only achieved by those who perpetually raise the expectations of themselves to the point where it ruins their life.
I didnt hear anything about that helmet. And I too also found the creatine to be random, and it didnt seem to fit well. Haha. Oh well. :D

Lol, I prefer the regular scotch tape because it is clean so it looks like my gels are just magically staying on my bike.
You have to hand it to the guy... he tried to quantify some pretty difficult things to quantify. I like his approach of comparing items by seconds improvement per dollar spent. For some things this was probably pretty straight forward. For instance, there have been studies showing the time improvement due to aero wheelsets and aero helmets. In the case of the helmet, he chose a particular model he thought was a good value and used that as the cost. Finding the time improvement for something like a professional bike fit or replacing a road bike with a tri bike is more challenging but he makes pretty reasonable assumptions. Items like creatine or the Triathlete's training bible are much harder to quantify. Working from memory the rationale for creatine went something like this... assuming you use creatine correctly during your build period, you will be able to go harder for longer during your intervals corresponding to some arbitrary time improvement due to improved training efficiency / recovery.
I briefly used creatine years ago when I used to life weights and happened to get injured... I never figured out if there was a correlation but I stopped taking it. Based on what I have read and heard lately, I think I will give it a shot this build period... wonder if I am going to bloat up like I did before...
In episode 33 he talks about creatine and it's use in training (I think).
He does not use anecdotes or opinion, but rather backs up what he says with research articles (although i think the creatine episode maybe the exception here), either way the podcast is very good, if you are the sciencey type like myself.

Well I was taking it during the winter and as soon as i stopped taking it I dropped about 8lbs in a few days. I would imagine that the weight drop was due water retention from the creatine.
That sounds about right... I think I dropped 5 lbs of water when I stopped taking it. Why were you taking it in the winter? Everything I have read is that it is supposed to be limited to 6-8 weeks max for intensity work (which lines up nice with a build period).
Well i guess it was late winter. I had the 6-8 weeks timed for my first race which is on the 19th of May. I stopped taking it early though, I just had a bad feeling after I had a bout of IT band syndrome. The creatine did seem to help my rock climbing though. ;)
Does anybody have ridden the FFWD Disc wheel?
Torbjorn Sindballe was riding those wheels at the IM New Zealand (and was going fast! :) )
I found their website, http://www.ffwdwheels.com[/URL], but I would like some additional information.
^^^Quit spamming. Zipp doesn't spam, and they sell a lot of discs.

Not fast enough.
The first creatine that came out, Creatine Monohydrate, or CM, did cause bloating and water weight gain. Remember mixing that powdery grit in grape juice in the 90's? There are now many modern forms of creatine available. Creatine Ethyl Esther, or CEE, will not cause bloating or the water weight gain. I feel a lot of power in my legs while on CEE, especially while on the bike. I do feel though, a "weighted down" feeling when running on CEE. I am a bodybuilder that does a few tri's every year so I will always be taking creatine on and off. IMHO, for a serious competitive triathlete looking to be lean and fast I don't think creatine is a necessary part of your supplement plan, unless you're just using it for an off season jump start to some increased strength or to build some muscle.

I'm not sure if this is a repeat or not, but I found this list to be interesting, and helpful!
