The Triathlon Season has begun. All the hard work, strict eating, tired days, endorphin highs, interval workouts, treadmill workouts, spin bike workouts, pool workouts, weight training, bad days, good days...and now competing. We all do this for a reason. Whatever your reason is, it is a great reason. We are a community of working class individuals with all different walks of life. We have come together to be apart of something that is so great and so motivating and so inspiring. There are young people, and old people, skinny people, and not so skinny people, black people and white people...Triathlons are AWESOME, they bring people together. Each triathlon you take on a different experience, you meet someone new, you beat a personal record, you get a personal worse, you get a flat, you bonk on the run, who knows what lies ahead of the next event. What you can put in your hands is the sense of satisfaction knowing you put in the long hours of training and you have gotten in the best shape of your life. Maybe it was to lose weight, maybe a friend got you involved, maybe you wanted a lifestyle change, maybe you thought you could win these things...whatever it was, you are here! We are here to succeed, inspire, motivate, work hard, achieve, accomplish, and WIN. Win by crossing each finish line and conquering a goal.

The triathlon season has begun, and I wish everyone good luck in their adventures to come!

Triathletes really are pretty cool people. Saturday at the St. Anthony's expo, some lady was buying a few things from one of the vendors (not a lot....less $100 worth, but not a stick of gum, either). He took MC and Visa, but all she had was her AmEx card...the other cards were in the car. "No problem," he said, "here's my cell phone number. Call me tomorrow and give me your Visa number over the phone." I just smiled when I overheard this, since it's so nice to be able to trust people so easily at triathlons.

The next morning in transition before the race, I overheard that someone had forgotten their helmet. I was carrying a spare that I had used to warm up in before going over to the swim start. I told the lady to use mine and drop it off at my transition spot afterher husband was done with the race. Didn't even have to worry about it not being there when I was ready to go home.

True true - triathletes are usually pretty cool. But they're plentiful and diverse enough at this point that I've also encountered the few belligerent type-A's who start crying about your bike being parked too close to their transition area spot.
It's a varied and unpredictable bunch. I like the supportive ones who finish their race, turn around and come clap for those still running. Their example is the real inspiration.

Best experience I had was when i'd done the unthinkable... didn't have 2 pairs of goggles with me and 10 mins before my wave start i was holding my goggles in my hand not doing anything, and they snapped at the nose!
I'd only brought $6 with me to the tri.. went up to the goggle vendor and the cheapest they had was $14. There was a lady standing next to me who handed me $10 to buy new goggles!
I was so relieved and thankful!
