Ive read that regular peanut butter is actually pretty bad for you....what do you guys think about this? I eat loads and loads of peanut butter for calories and protien. Will it make a difference if I switch over to natural?

Natural BP is high in fat but ,for example, my BP from Whole Foods has only 1.6 grams of saturated fat (out of 20, per Tbs.)...but the beauty of it is it's just peanuts! No other garbage, no added sugars, and anytime you can eliminate junk form your diet that's good.
I eat some every morning for a good shot of a.m. protein.
Buy a jar...give it a shot.

Natural PB (pure peanuts) has NO hydrogenation. Hydrogenation is VERY bad for you. One of the bad things about it is that hydrogenation gels the cell walls and makes them less permeable...bad.

of course, you also have to come to grips with a little oil accumulating in your natural peanut butter jar when it sits...the processed stuff doesn't do that

turn the jar upside down when storing - the oils flows the bottom over time.

Skippy's version of natural doesn't separate -- it's the best of both worlds. Plus, it's Skippy, my brand of choice :)

I use natural PB 'cause there's no added junk. I actually dump off some of the oil when I first open the jar before I stir it up. It tends to get a little dry by the bottom of the jar, but toss it in the micro for a few seconds and you've got spreadable creamy PB again with a little less fat.

Natural PB w/honey also tastes awesome. I don't eat a lot of meat, so it is my primary protein source.

The best, and I mean THE BEST breakie ever is natural PB w honey on a fresh blueberry bagel (warm bagel) and fresh brewed coffee after a morning light workout :D Seriously. Try it!

Natural has always tasted better to me - I never understood why anyone would want sugar added to their PB. That's what the jam is for :D

Natural is the way to go,
although I don't eat PB, I eat CB (cashew butter), the only ingredient in the stuff I buy is cashews.

Absolutely! It is so good it is hard to believe that it is healthy.

Since peanuts are one of the worst crops for pesticides, I won't buy anything except organic peanut butter. Costco actually has a very nice organic natural peanut butter with nothing else added that's creamy and doesn't separate. Trader Joe's has a good one too. We have a local brand, Maranatha, that's good (and I think both Costco and TJ's have sold that at times).

How do they keep the peanut butter from separating if they don't hydrogenate it?

Some add in a stabilizer, though I don't remember what it is.

The easy way is to simply refrigerate your natural peanut butter...which theoretically we all should be doing anyways as there are no preservatives.

I like the organic PB,
I have a Whole Food store in town and I love it.

My faves are Almond Butter and Cashew Butter. YUM!!:D

Nothing to it, but to do it

Guys, just stir it well and store upside down like VanJames says. It works.

I just switched over recently. It's kind of like molasses which keeps me from eating more than I should.

Key to keeping it from getting separated: stir and refridgerate. only minor separation if any. :D

I love organic natural PB! I grind it myself at my local whole foods market. Just dump in the peanuts and out comes the paste. It doesn't seperate as there are no additional oils in it.
