Dangerous?

Assuming the stem isn't at some extreme angle, it's a pretty common practice. Might take a while to get used to the lower position. And sometimes it's better to get fit by a pro and let them make the recommendations.

I use a 30 degree drop on my stem and don't have any problems. As long as you have control of the bike, it's not dangerous.

Thanks for the replies. I'm 6'1 with a 30 inch inseam so I cant get my seat very high. I am going to try to flip the stem and see how it feels. Thanks again

I have a 57 cm Biancchi road bike. The bike has a pretty long handlebar stem and it also angles up. I put shorter aero bars on it but if I am down in the aero bars, my seat is lower than my bars. Is it safe to flip the stem around so that it angles down? Thanks.
