Bike Question

I'm looking for my first tri specific bike. I've ridden a few, Felt(s22), Cervelo, QRoo(kilo and Tequilo) and a Kuota. I realize fit it very important and will have the new bike properly fitted. In my search for the new ride, I ran across a Fuji Aloha 1.0 at one of my LBS. 2007 model retailed for 1800.00 and selling for 1150.00. Is this bike up to the standards of the other listed or is Fuji lower on the quality chain. Any help with the Fuji name would be helpfull. Thanks in advance.

Some of the people in my tri club ride Fuji's and I almost picked up an Aloha 1.0 earlier this year. It's a very nice bike for the price (which unfortunately was still out of my price range), especially at $1150.

Well built, good components, good ride.

For starters, they dont list the geometries for the bikes like they do on other makers sites. Fujis are generally regarded as second tier, tho. Definately not on par with QR. I havent seen any of these bikes around myself...

Ridden it yet? Can you fit the bike comfortably the way you are supposed to fit a tri bike?

Triguy,
I have not ridden the Fuji yet - I was in for other things for from road bike and just happen to notice this one. Not sure if this one will fit or not - That will be something I will look into though. I just haven't heard much about Fuji so that's kind of why I was asking. Thanks

The fuji has a pretty relaxed geometry. For $1150 that would make a great beginners tri bike. go for it

I also checked out the Aloha. If I were paying full price for a bike I would probably go with the felt, Q Roo, or Cervelo. But there is nothing wrong with the Fuji. The only real difference is the frame as most of the compenents are going to be the same or similar. Overall, the bikes are all pretty comparable and for $700 less the Fuji would be a good bike.

Fujis are solid, both the local tri clubs from my town are sponsored by a fuji heavy shop, and so there are quite a few around and i haven't heard any complaints.

If they are all 2007 bikes I'd seriously consider the QR..... @ 77 ddegree seat angle, it is a very nice geometry for a tri bike.... much better than the other options.

the most important thing when getting a tri bike around the 1k range is comfort for you. At that price most of the components are comparable, the aerodynamics are close and the weights are almost identical. Ride many different bikes and get the one that responds the best to you.

I personally recommend jumping price ranges and hit the 2k range if you can. Then you can spend weeks and months researching all the options.

Thanks for everyone's advise - I will continue to ride lots of bikes until a decision is made.
