Water "input" and "output"

I rode the MS 150 this weekend...which turned out to be 168 miles (!!!) over two days. At the end of the ride on both Saturday and Sunday, I noticed that I didn't have to go pee. (I did pee at two rest stops each day though). So it made me wonder...does that mean that my fluid intake is just right...or too little? I drink water only (one aero bottle per hour) and 2 Endurolytes every 2 hours. It was around 80 degrees and low humidity each day. Any thoughts

Everyone's body is different and reacts differently. This weekend, my roommate and I did the same race...he drank 1 bottle on the bike and had to piss like a racehorse afterwards, while I drank 2 on the bike plus Gatorade at every station and didn't have to go. That was good nutrition for both of us, though. The best way to tell if you've had enough to drink is to weigh yourself before and after. If you lose less than about 4 lbs (this number is different for everyone, too, but 4 lbs is pretty average), then you've probably had enough water.

Don't go and try to come back being the same weight, though. Being a little dehydrated (just a couple pounds) won't hurt you, but overhydrating can kill you (hyponacemia). I'd rather come back 5 pounds light than 1 pound heavy (all that water sloshing around inside will make you feel sick, anyway).

I had the same issue for IMC in 05. I mistakely thought since I had not peed on the bike (but had taken in a ton of fluid) that I was dehydrated since the temp was in the 90's. So, I chugged some accelerade in T2. BIG MISTAKE---went right to my tummy and sat there and sloshed. Thinking back, I was probably just right. Lesson learned for this year. Oh wait maybe this should be in the "lessons learned" string BBB just started :D
